The pre-fired ceramics we offer to crafters are made from clay mined from Mother Earth, which have been formed using water, dried and fired to 1,600 degrees F. No additives, such as water or other chemicals which might have been used in their creation, remain available to leach out into the environment. These clay bodies form a glassy surface during firing which prevents any leaching. They are NOT glazed.
Thus, ceramic balls are safe for bakers to use in the kitchen when they bake pies.
